Mr. Zim founded Zim Capital in South Africa and Badisa Holding, based in the UAE. He is the former CEO of Anglo-American SA Ltd and Chairman of Anglo Operations Limited (AOL). He has served on the boards of directors of MTN Group, Anglo Gold Ashanti, Anglo American Platinum, Mondi South Africa, Tongaat Hullet, Sanlam, and on the International Advisory Council of Capital International (USA). He is a former Kumba Iron Ore, Telkom SA, and the Northam Platinum chairman. He is the former CEO of M-Net Supersport and Multichoice SA, Africa’s largest Pay Television operator. He has also served as Managing Director of MTN International and played a crucial role in establishing MTN Nigeria.
Lazarus Zim is past president of the Chamber of Mines of South Africa and was voted African Business Leader of the Year in 2005. He is also a retired Honorary Colonel in the South African Army. He has business interests in various parts of Africa and the Middle East.
